Threat Content Analyst
Volunteer Opportunity: Threat Content Analyst
KC7 Cyber | Volunteer | Remote | ~3–5 hours/week
About KC7
KC7 is a free cybersecurity game that teaches real-world threat investigation skills through hands-on, story-driven challenges. Every scenario in KC7 is grounded in real threat actor behavior, actual attacker techniques, and genuine investigative workflows. The quality of our content is what sets KC7 apart — and we need sharp, detail-oriented people to help us keep that bar high.
The Role
We're looking for a Threat Content Analyst volunteer to help review and validate KC7 game content before it goes live. You'll be a critical checkpoint in our content pipeline — making sure scenarios are accurate, well-structured, and ready for players. This is a great role for someone with a background or interest in cybersecurity who wants to contribute to education and get a behind-the-scenes look at how KC7 is built.
What You'll Do
- Review KC7 game content (scenarios, questions, data sets, and narratives) for accuracy, clarity, and quality
- Verify that threat scenarios reflect realistic attacker techniques and investigative workflows
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or errors in content before publication
- Provide constructive feedback to content creators to help refine scenarios
- Help ensure content is routed to the right stage of the publishing pipeline
- Collaborate with the KC7 team to maintain consistent quality standards across all game modules
- Contribute ideas and insights to the game development process based on your review experience
What We're Looking For
- A genuine interest in cybersecurity — whether you're a student, professional, or self-taught enthusiast
- Strong attention to detail — you catch things others miss
- Analytical mindset — you can evaluate whether a scenario makes sense from an investigative standpoint
- Clear written communication skills for providing feedback
- Organized and reliable — you can meet review deadlines and track your work
- Familiarity with threat actor techniques, MITRE ATT&CK, or SOC workflows is a big plus
- Experience playing KC7 required. You will need at least a level of 70 in game.
Time Commitment
Approximately 3–5 hours per week. Flexible and fully remote — reviews can be completed on your own schedule as content comes through the pipeline.
Why Volunteer with KC7?
- Get hands-on exposure to real-world threat scenarios and attacker techniques
- Sharpen your analytical and threat analysis skills in a practical setting
- Contribute directly to a product used by students, educators, and security professionals worldwide
- Build your portfolio and gain experience you can speak to in interviews
- Receive a letter of recommendation or LinkedIn endorsement after a successful term
- Join a team of cybersecurity professionals and educators who are passionate about making this field more accessible
